Operation Reclaim & Rebuild
February 5, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that in observance of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, the Los Angeles Police Department, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, 107 law enforcement agencies, and supported by various victim advocacy groups, participated in “Operation Reclaim & Rebuild.” The operation is a statewide, multi-agency initiative focused on rescuing victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking, apprehending their captors, and disrupting the demand for vulnerable individuals, and was conducted January 26 through February 1, 2025.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 547 suspects statewide for various criminal charges. Three hundred and thirty-three exploiters were arrested, and 11 minors were rescued from possible exploiters. In addition, 166 adults were identified as trafficking victims and received the appropriate services. All recovered minors were placed in protective custody and will receive support from the Department of Children and Family Services, along with advocacy services from victim support partners.
The collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, social service departments, victim advocacy groups, and community stakeholders made this operation a success. Most significantly, 177 victims of sexual exploitation were recovered from their difficult environments and were offered suitable services.
During the operation, our dedicated investigators demonstrated their unwavering commitment and compassion as they embarked on a critical mission to protect victims of human trafficking. Through their diligent efforts, vulnerable victims were rescued from further abuse, and victims who had been silenced by these atrocious crimes found their voices restored. Justice was served during Operation Reclaim & Rebuild, as numerous suspects, who sought to prey on our young, were apprehended and brought to face the consequences of their actions.
These significant achievements are a testament to the profound impact that this task force has made in safeguarding our communities and upholding the values we hold dear. Together, we continue to stand strong in the face of predators who seek to sexually exploit victims, working tirelessly to create safer communities for all.
As a result of the collaborative efforts employed by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Human Trafficking Task Forces, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Vice Units, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, and the numerous law enforcement agencies that participated, the above statistics were achieved during the operational period.
Although Operation Reclaim & Rebuild has concluded, the LAPD, LASD, and statewide law enforcement agencies, will remain vigilant and continue their mission to rescue the victims of human trafficking and prosecute those who prey on them. Despite the numerous resources that assist law enforcement in the battle against the sexual exploitation of children and adults, victims still go unnoticed. We ask the community for their help to continue this fight.
