February 7, 2025 – Our CAL FIRE Firefighters had the busiest January on record. In response to the wind events resulting in the tragic LA County fires, we set many records from number of Incident Management Team activations to acres burned in the month of January, and an overwhelming response by our aircraft in what is normally a time for maintenance.

In addition to the LA County Fires, CAL FIRE still responded to more than 53,000 emergency calls throughout the state in the month of January.
