Music and Murals - Two Upcoming Senior Center Residencies
February 8, 2025 – In collaboration with the Mariposa Arts Council, the Senior Center will be hosting two separate six-week workshop series between the weeks of February 24th to March 31st.

The first, held on Mondays from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., will be focused on Music Listening with Ava Burns. Titled Reflective Listening - The Songs that Defined the 20th Century, this workshop series will be a thoughtful, creative space to deepen understanding of familiar music. Participants will listen closely to some of the most influential music recordings of the 20th century and explore the musical patterns, lyrics and performance characteristics that made these recordings special.
The second, held on Thursdays from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., will be a hands-on mural painting workshop with Clay River. In this
residency, titled Legacies of Color, participants will collaboratively paint a large-scale mural on panels in the Community Room at the Senior Center. Beginners and artists alike will contribute to a meaningful public artwork while fostering teamwork, creativity, and intergenerational connection.
Participants must be 55 or older to participate. Space is limited. Please sign up at the Senior Center or by calling (209) 966-6632
These workshops are a part of a series of six artist residencies with the Senior Center and Mariposa Arts Council.
