Wendy Baumann's first and second grade class at Sierra Foothill Charter School went on an excellent field March 22, 2016 visiting both Riggs Emergency Medical Services and Merced City Fire and Rescue Station 51. They toured the inside of an ambulance, a helicopter, and the dispatch center, getting lots of attention from all the personnel. They also toured inside a fire house, learned about all the equipment fire fighters wear, walked through a fire truck, and tried out a fire hose. Parent Sarah Sinclair arranged the entire trip. Students loved it! Wendy Baumann's first and second grade students stand with Riggs personnel in front of the company's helicopter in Merced. Mason Sinclair checks out what it's like to get loaded by stretcher into a Riggs helicopter. Westley Sheffield, Aidan Beutel-DePrano, Deacon Lopes, and Jensen Fouch get a tour of the inside of a Riggs ambulance. Izabella Wright takes a turn trying out the fire house at Station 51 in Merced. Teacher Wendy Baumann (back right) and Aide Kristen Thomas (back, second from left) stand with their SFCS first and second grade class in front of a Station 51 fire engine in Merced. Parent Sarah Sinclair (back, left) arranged all aspects of the field trip for the class.
