April 6, 2016 - The CHP has released a report on Tuesday's accident on Highway 140 in the Merced River Canyon area.
The accident occurred approximately at 1:00 P.M. as a 47 year old female from El Portal was driving her 2011 Honda CRV eastbound on Highway 140, east of the Briceburg Bridge. Approximately 1.5 miles east of the Briceburg Bridge she crossed over the double yellow lines and collided with a Midpines man, 56, as he was driving his 1996 Dodge Caravan westbound on Highway 140 with passenger Tim Todd Hartley, 48, of Midpines.
The driver of the Honda CRV sustained fatal injuries on impact and the driver of the Dodge Caravan died while being transported from the scene by Mercy Ambulance.
Mr. Hartley was transported by Mercy Ambulance and Mercy Air to Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto with a fractured hip.
The names of the deceased will be released after family notification.
