Sonora Police Department were dispatched to a report of a suspected stolen vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 49, leaving Sonora. Officers caught up to the silver Chevy Malibu as it pulled into the Lake Ridge Inn near Tuttletown.
Officers contacted the subject driving the vehicle and identified him as 37-year-old Eduardo Carbajal out of Turlock. Officers confirmed the vehicle was stolen and Carbajal was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the vehicle, officers located drug paraphernalia and items consistent with tools used to commit burglaries. Officers also located an ammunition round, and because Carbajal is a convicted felon, it is unlawful for him to possess ammunition in the state of California.
Carbajal was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for felony Possession of a stolen vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Driving on a Suspended License.
"It's important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they've been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This principle is the bedrock of our legal system and should be respected by all."
