Fatal Vehicle vs. Bicyclist Collision Under Investigation 

February 27, 2025 – Modesto, CA – Modesto Police Department officials report that on February 25, 2025, at approximately 7:36 P.M., Modesto Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-bicyclist collision at the intersection of Sylvan Avenue and Wood Sorrel Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located a bicyclist in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, the bicyclist, a Modesto man, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a white Scion XB was traveling westbound on Sylvan Avenue when it collided with the bicyclist, who was crossing Sylvan Avenue northbound near the intersection with Wood Sorrel Drive.

The Modesto Police Department’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating this incident. Anyone who witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact Officer Beavers at Beaversb@modestopd.com.
