March 2, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 3:12 p.m., officers responded to the 4000 block of East Olive Avenue regarding a female being found deceased inside her residence by a family member. Officers arrived and found 41-year-old Angel Hoban (pictured) unresponsive inside the residence. Officers performed live-saving efforts; however, she was pronounced deceased on scene at 3:22 p.m.

Officers learned Hoban had been in a dating relationship with 40-year-old Michael Gonzales-Gay since last year, and they resided together with her two young children at the residence. During the investigation, detectives determined Gonzales-Gay had fatally stabbed Hoban inside the residence and fled the scene afterward. Gonzales-Gay was later contacted during an unrelated disturbance near the intersection of 6th Street and Home Avenue, where he was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant for his arrest. Gonzales-Gay was additionally charged with PC 187(a)-Murder. Although an arrest has been made in this case, detectives are asking anyone with information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
