March 6, 2025 – Mariposa County Parks and Recreation officials announce temporary closure of Woodland Field.

We’ve received a few questions about the Woodland Field closure, and we want to clarify the reasoning behind it.

Here's what you need to know:

Why March? 

March is typically a mild-weather month, making it the perfect time for field maintenance. It’s also before the busy season kicks off with youth sports and activities, allowing us to get the work done without disrupting play.

What’s being done? 

We’re performing several key upgrades and improvements:

• Moving sprinklers to ensure better coverage
• Addressing drainage concerns for improved field conditions
• Reseeding and aerating the field to promote healthy grass growth

Why is this necessary? 

Due to the continuous use of the fields throughout the year with little to no rest periods, maintenance was essential to keep the fields in top shape. These upgrades will help ensure better playability and longer-lasting conditions for all future users.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve Woodland Field for everyone’s enjoyment!

Please keep in mind that frequent users were given one-year advance notice of this closure.
