Mariposa Museum and History Center continues its Fireside Chats on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 with Danette Øydengaard.  Danette is a local author who has written a delightful book titled Clarence & the Little Wawona Wagon.  This story, although fictional in form, is based on historical events at the Wawona Hotel.  Clarence Washburn was the son of John Washburn, one of the three brothers who built the Wawona Hotel, and Grandson of Thomas Hill the famous Landscape artist.  It is through Clarence’s daughter, Wawona Washburn Hartwig that Danette came to know of the story behind the Little Wawona Wagon, which was bequeathed to her upon Wawona’s death.

This promises to be an interesting sojourn into a time of history that was simpler and full of adventure for a young boy.  So please plan on joining us here at the Mariposa Museum & History Center, at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa, on Sunday, April 17 at 2:00 PM to hear Danette Øydengaard share her journey in how she came to write this delightful story.

Admission is Free.
