March 13, 2025 - WASHINGTON - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) released the following statement after the Trump Administration announced that it plans to cut nearly half its workforce.

"President Trump is prioritizing billionaires over kids. Make no mistake - while he cannot abolish the Department of Education without an act of Congress, he is doing everything in his power to privatize public education. These cuts will lead to overcrowded classrooms, cuts to financial aid, and the elimination of special education services. Our kids will pay the price for these reckless policies.” said Congressman Costa.
