Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested Following Multi-Agency Investigation
March 20, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on February 19, 2025, Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an armed robbery at a business in unincorporated Lincoln. The suspect, armed with a handgun, stole money and property from the victim.
Detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and identified the suspect as 40-year-old Derrick Jones of Sacramento. Working closely with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Detectives, investigators uncovered that Jones was also responsible for an additional robbery in Sacramento County.
On March 13, 2025, detectives—assisted by the Sacramento Police Department SWAT and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Robbery Detectives—executed a search warrant at Jones’ residence in Sacramento. Jones was taken into custody at the scene and booked on multiple charges for the robberies committed in both Placer and Sacramento counties.
