March 20, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Sunday, March 16, 2025, shortly after 7:00 a.m., Southwest officers responded to Tulare Street and B Street to check on the welfare of a male lying on the sidewalk, not moving. Officers arrived and found 64-year-old Abraham Tiggs unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Officers and EMS personnel provided life-saving efforts; however, they were unsuccessful. Tiggs was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide learned Tiggs was a member of the unhoused community and was captured on video around 11:40 p.m. the prior evening walking south on B Street towards Tulare Street, where he collapsed. Detectives believe the shooting occurred moments before Tiggs collapsed near the area of B Street and Mariposa Street and are canvassing the area and local businesses for witnesses and video footage.
At this time, no suspect(s) have been identified, and detectives are asking anyone with information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
