April 19, 2016 - SONORA, Calif. – On Tuesday, April 19, the Bureau of Reclamation in conjunction with the Oakdale Irrigation District and South San Joaquin Irrigation District plans to increase releases from Goodwin Dam into the Stanislaus River, to supplement spring fishery flow requirements according to the National Marine Fisheries Service 2009 Biological Opinion. Goodwin Dam is located downstream from Tulloch Dam and New Melones Dam and Reservoir.

The increased flows will be in the form of an upcoming three-day controlled pulse, with flows ranging between 1,000 cubic feet per second and up to 3,500 cfs. Flow changes will occur between midnight and 10 a.m. to minimize public impact. The flows will begin ramping down on April 21 and return to 1400 cfs by April 23.

People recreating in or along the Stanislaus River downstream from Goodwin Dam to the confluence of the San Joaquin and Stanislaus Rivers should take safety precautions with the increased flows.

For more information on the Stanislaus River and daily reservoir operations, visit Reclamation’s Central Valley Operation Office website at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/cvo.
