Narcotics Investigation 

March 25, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on March 19, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA) concluded a narcotics investigation with the execution of a search warrant in the 2000 block of Magdelena Avenue, Bakersfield. The investigation resulted in the seizure of over 15,000 fentanyl-laced (M-30) pills, marijuana, numerous firearms and a large amount of U.S currency and jewelry believed to be derived from illegal drug proceeds.

Juan Jose Chavez, (age 36) of San Bernardino was located at his residence with his family and found in possession of large amounts of fentanyl pills, processed marijuana, numerous firearms, U.S currency and a stolen handgun.

Officers from the Kern County Probation Department and California Highway Patrol (K-9 Unit) assisted the KC-HIDTA Task Force in the investigation/execution of the search warrant.

Juan Chavez was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Lerdo Justice Facility for the following charges: possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl), possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment and possession of a stolen handgun.
