Andrea Contreras’ seventh and eighth grade students at Sierra Foothill Charter School are hosting their fourth annual Chili Cook Off on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on campus, 4952 School House Road in Catheys Valley.

Enter your best chili and/or cornbread for a chance to win awesome prizes (and eat for free), or just come to eat all the chili and cornbread you want for $5 and enjoy a night of family fun.

There will be kickball and corn hole games made by the seventh and eighth graders on the blacktop.

There will also be a Learning Garden plant sale: tomatoes, peppers, kale, chard, mint plants and a few other varieties to choose from.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the seventh and eighth grade classroom.

Ms. Contreras will provide food preparation and service guidelines to all contestants to ensure safe food handling.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Chili; People’s Choice; Kids’ Choice; Student Chili; Spiciest; and Best Cornbread.
