April 9, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 7, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA) concluded a lengthy narcotics investigation with a traffic stop and the execution of a search warrant in the 3100 block of Ashe Road, Bakersfield. The investigation resulted in the seizure of over 26,000 fentanyl-laced (M-30) pills, 15 grams of Xanax, a loaded handgun and U.S currency believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
Eliseo Lopez, (age 22) of Bakersfield, was the driver and sole occupant contacted during a traffic stop on Northbound Highway 99 near David Road. During the California Highway Patrol, K-9 officers’ investigation, Eliseo Lopez was found to be in possession of several thousand (M-30) laced fentanyl pills, along with Xanax pills that were concealed inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. KC-HIDTA subsequently served a search warrant at Eliso Lopez’ residence resulting in the seizure of an additional large amount of (M-30) fentanyl laced pills, a loaded unregistered handgun and a large amount of U.S currency.
Eliseo Lopez was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Lerdo Justice Facility for the following charges: possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl), possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, transportation of a controlled substance and for maintaining a residence for drug sales.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office aims to reduce the dangers fentanyl presents to the community and save lives. It only takes a small amount of fentanyl to be deadly. It’s impossible to determine the exact amount of fentanyl inside each dose because of its potency, especially when mixed with other drugs. Each dose of fentanyl has the potential to be lethal.
