April 12, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that at on Friday evening, the Fresno Police Department located and arrested the suspect wanted for the vicious attack on our City employee on Friday morning. Officers from the Southwest Policing District’s DST located him and took him into custody without incident. 

The suspect is currently being interviewed by detectives. Additional information will be released after he is booked into the Fresno County jail.

Original release: Around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to a call regarding an unresponsive male on Kern Street, between F Street and G Street. When officers arrived, they found the victim, a City of Fresno employee, unconscious on the sidewalk near a meter box he was working on. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

During their investigation, officers found surveillance video that captured the assault. As the victim was working on the meter box, the suspect walked up behind him and, without warning, struck him in the back of the head with a large, blunt object. The victim fell to the ground, losing consciousness. The suspect then casually walked away into a nearby alley.

The victim, whose identity will not be released at this time, will be turning 57 years old at the end of this month. He works as an engineer with the City of Fresno’s Public Works Department and has been employed with the City since 2006.

Detectives are seeking information regarding the suspect’s identity and/or whereabouts.
