Man Drowns in Tule River

April 22, 2025 – Tulare County Sheriff's Office officials report that just after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, TCSO Deputies were called to the Tule River above Upper Coffee Camp to an area commonly known as “The Stairs”.

When they arrived, Deputies learned a man in his 30s was missing in the river after going over a small waterfall/slide.

TCSO Deputies, along with Tulare County Fire and Medical personnel, immediately began searching for the man. After about an hour, he was found in a nearby swimming hole and recovered by TCSO Swiftwater and Dive Team members and Tulare County Fire Swiftwater personnel. Life-saving efforts were performed. But the man was taken to Sierra View District Hospital, where was pronounced deceased.

Sheriff Boudreaux wants to remind the public that, although rivers seem inviting and relaxing, even small currents can be powerful. Use extreme caution in and around waterways and always wear a life jacket whenever possible to help avoid such tragedies.
