Burn Permits Required May 1, 2025
April 26, 2025 – Mariposa, CA – The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit (MMU) has announced effective at 8:00 A.M. Thursday, May 1, 2025, all hazard reduction burning will require a CAL FIRE burn permit in Mariposa and Madera Counties.
CAL FIRE burn permits are available online only by visiting: burnpermit.fire.ca.gov.

Property owners conducting hazard reduction burning are responsible for checking the burn day status. Citations will be issued for burning outside permit parameters. Burning is limited to grasses, brush, down trees and limbs and dead, dry vegetation. Residents burning outside permit parameters could be cited.
