April 27, 2025 – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday deputies with Waterford Police Services, in collaboration with Stanislaus County Sheriff's River Patrol, conducted a coordinated patrol operation along the Tuolumne River corridor in the Waterford area. This proactive effort focused on identifying and addressing illegal camping activities and environmental concerns.
During the sweep, four individuals were contacted for unlawfully camping and contributing to litter and waste accumulation along the river. Of those contacted, three were taken into custody for various violations.
Illegal camping along waterways poses significant risks to both the natural ecosystem and the surrounding community. These enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts to preserve the environmental health of the Tuolumne River, protect local wildlife habitats, and ensure public safety and cleanliness in recreational and residential areas.
Waterford Police Services remains committed to working to safeguard our natural resources and promote a safe, clean, and respectful environment for all.
