Fire Season Safety & Homeless Outreach 

May 8, 2025 – El Dorado County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Homeless Outreach Team are working to keep fire dangers down this year.

As we enter fire season, our Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) has been actively dismantling encampments along the west slope of the county—areas at high risk for wildfires.

Last year, approximately 27 fires in our county were linked to homeless encampments. While our HOT team works diligently to connect individuals with support services and shelter options, we take a zero-tolerance approach when signs of campfires are present, prioritizing community safety.

If you see an encampment, please report it to our HOT team. Your awareness and cooperation can help prevent fires and protect lives.
