Narcan Saves Life of Teen Following Overdose

May 8, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Tuesday May 6, 2025, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office Madera SO Narcanwas dispatched to a residence for a possible overdose involving a female juvenile. Deputies administered Narcan upon arrival, after which she became responsive and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 20-year-old Ahwahnee resident Seth Prince was ultimately arrested for felony charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, and multiple counts of resisting an executive officer after he became combative with arresting detectives.

During the course of their investigation, MADNET & MCSO Detectives located what appeared to be Xanax pills near the victim. These pills sold on the streets often contain fentanyl, a synthetic opioid- one of the deadliest drugs out there. Commonly, these pills are counterfeit prescription pills that contain fentanyl, making them very dangerous and sometimes fatal to those that ingest them. One pill can sometimes be enough for a deadly fentanyl overdose.

Sheriff Tyson Pogue emphasizes the importance of parental involvement and preparedness:

“As parents, we can’t afford to assume our kids are immune to the dangers out there. One poor choice—just one counterfeit or non-prescription pill—can take a young life in seconds. That’s why every parent needs to have a real conversation with their teen about the risks of fentanyl and what an overdose looks like. They also need to know how to respond if a friend is in trouble. Narcan is safe, easy to use, and it saves lives. Keep it in your home, your car, or your purse—because it may not just be your child who needs it. It could be the difference between life and death.”

Local pharmacies, drug stores, convenience stores and online stores all have Narcan readily available to the public without a prescription. More information and resources can be found at:
