Deputies Investigating Disturbance Discover a Homicide 

May 14, 2025 – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 11th, 2025, at approximately 9:40 A.M., Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to perform a welfare check regarding a disturbance in the 7000 block of McCauley Road in Valley Springs, CA. Upon arriving at the location, deputies found an unresponsive male inside the home, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Cody Michael Bridges, age 24 of Valley Springs, was present at the house and was detained during the initial investigation.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division was dispatched to continue the investigation, with the assistance of the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Justice. Investigators worked into the next morning, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, and have since cleared the scene. Cody Bridges was subsequently arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for homicide.

The investigation into these events is expected to continue for several weeks, as investigators examine and review all evidence.
