Retired Undersheriff Passes Away 

May 14, 2025 – Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux regrets to announce the passing of retired Undersheriff Doyle Hoppert TCSO Hoppert 1Friday in Visalia. He was 83. 

Undersheriff Hoppert retired in 1990 after a long career at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office. As he rose through the ranks, he served on Patrol, SWAT, Investigations, Night Watch, Property Crimes, Juvenile Unit, and, for a time, he was the Resident Deputy for Springville. 

His grandson, Deputy Randy Hoppert, Jr., continues the family legacy in law enforcement and serves on the Tulare Area Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team. 

Undersheriff Hoppert is survived by his wife, Kay Hoppert; daughter Rhonda Willis, a former deputy, and sons retired TCSO Deputy Randy Hoppert, Sr. and Brandon Hoppert; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
