Update: 11:22 A.M. Per Madera County Sheriff's Office; School Lock Downs Lifted

The lockdowns at Wasuma Elementary, Oakhurst Elementary, Oak Creek Intermediate and Yosemite High School have been lifted. Deputies responded to the campuses and determined there was no immediate threat to the campus, students or staff. Additional Deputies have been assigned to the area to provide extra patrol for the remainder of the school day. The investigation into the original threat remains ongoing.

May 28, 2025 - Madera County Sheriff's Office officials report the Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a potential threat near the campus at Oakhurst Elementary and Oak Creek Intermediate Schools.

Deputies are responding to the area, and out of an abundance of caution school officials have issued a lockdown order for both schools. There has been no activity or incident on either campus at this time. This investigation remains ongoing and MCSO is working closely with school administrators to identify and mitigate any potential risk for staff and students.

As a precaution, Yosemite High School & Wasuma Elementary were also placed on a lock down. No direct threat has been received toward either school. Deputies will remain in the area for the remainder of the school day.
