Mariposa Democratic Club May Meeting – Meet local candidates!
May 11, 2016 - The Mariposa Democratic Club is pleased to announce we will be focusing on the local elections for our May meeting (May 14). The meeting starts at 9:45 a.m. at Miner’s Roadhouse; please join us at 9:00 if you want to purchase breakfast first.
May is about the Board of Supervisor races. We have three supervisors running for re-election; while Kevin Cann is unopposed, both John Carrier and Merlin Jones have opponents. So in May, we will have them all except Kevin Cann (who has a conflict) come to speak to us.
The people running are: District 5 – John Carrier (incumbent) and Miles Menetrey; District 2 – Merlin Jones (incumbent), Debbie Cook and Thane Suderman. This is a great chance to hear why they are running and what their goals are; and what they have accomplished, for those who are incumbents.
We encourage everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to come to the meetings to meet the candidates; it can be hard sometimes to get information about them, so come to the meeting! Along with their prepared remarks, there will be time during the breakfast portion to chat with them one on one. Local politics is important; this is a good step in the voting decision process.
The Mariposa Democratic Club meets the second Saturday of most months at Miner’s Roadhouse Restaurant. Join us at 9:00 a.m. if you want to purchase breakfast or at 9:45 a.m. for the speaker and meeting.
