June 11, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff's Office sadly announces the passing of retired K-9 Zeke. 

Zeke was a 12-year-old Belgian Malinois who started his career with the Sheriff's office in 2016 as a narcotics detection and apprehension dog assisting our Gang Taskforce. In 2020, Zeke was reassigned to Deputy Lemmons, where he served as a significant asset on Patrol.

Zeke retired in June 2023 and stayed with the Lemmons Family, where he enjoyed lounging around, taking long naps, and playing with his Malinois sister. Our department is incredibly grateful for Zeke's service, loyalty, and friendship to our agency, Merced County, and the Lemmons Family.
