Missing Juvenile Located, Suspect Arrested for Kidnapping 

June 13, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 11, 2025, at 3:00 a.m., Kern County Sheriff's Office KCSO kidnappingDeputies from the Bakersfield Metropolitan Patrol responded to a report of a missing juvenile in the 2400 block of Kentucky Street. When Deputies arrived, they contacted the reporting party and learned a 14-year-old female had been missing from the residence since approximately 4:00 p.m. the previous day. The mother of the juvenile explained to deputies that she was concerned for her female juvenile and that she believed the juvenile was possibly having a romantic/intimate relationship with an older adult male subject who the juvenile met through the online Gaming platform Fortnite.

Detectives responded to assist patrol with the investigation. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified the male subject as 20-year-old Sergio Estrada from Santa Ana California and believed the subject had possibly fled with the juvenile to Santa Ana. Detectives learned Estrada had been communicating with the juvenile for two years via social media platforms.

During the course of the investigation detectives determined Estrada was at an unidentified residence located in the east unincorporated area of Bakersfield. Deputies canvassed the area and located Estrada walking near an apartment complex in the company of the Juvenile. The juvenile was later returned to the safety of her parents.

Estrada was arrested and booked for an active Ramey warrant for the charge of Kidnapping. Additional charges for Estrada are pending submission by Detectives to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
