FOBL logoHave you tried different diets over the years only to discover that losing weight becomes more difficult each time you lose and regain the weight? On Saturday, May 21, 2016 the Oakhurst Branch Library is offering a workshop entitled Diets & Other Myths to educate people about this frustrating phenomenon. The workshop is scheduled at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Virginia Eaton, owner of Class, The Body Pastiche, a fitness and wellness business in Oakhurst, is presenting the workshop that will also help people understand how and why processed food companies make their products in a way that ensures that you will come back and eat more of something that often damages your body.

“Participants will also learn why reading food labels on processed food won’t tell you what you really need to know and why using the glycemic index can help people control their insulin, blood sugar and mood,” she explained.

Eaton has a BS in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Utah and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Fresno State. She is also a mediator who works in the schools and with the courts conducting truancy and victim-offender mediation.

Eaton’s passion for health and wellness has taken her on a journey to understand how processed food affects our bodies and how we can reconnect with real food to nourish our body.

“Bring your questions to the workshop and let’s have a discussion about creating a healthier you and a vibrant longevity,” she added.

The free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library. The presentation will be held in the Oakhurst Library’s Community Room located at 49044 Civic Circle Drive. For more information, call the library at (559) 683-4838 or visit oakhurstfobl.com.
