June 18, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Saturday, June 14th at approximately 6:45 p.m.,
Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Vandenberg Circle in west Roseville following a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim suffering from a stab wound to his cheek. The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old James Nunley, had fled the scene in a black BMW. Deputies immediately launched an investigation, with support from PCSO detectives. Through coordinated efforts, the suspect’s location was traced to the South Natomas area of Sacramento. On Sunday, June 15th, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Nunley was arrested by the Sacramento Police Department and subsequently transferred into custody of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Nunley is currently being held on charges of attempted murder (Penal Code 664/187(a)).
We commend the swift investigative work of our deputies and detectives, and we extend our thanks to the Sacramento Police Department for their assistance in bringing this suspect into custody.
