June 23, 2025 – Mariposa, CA – Over 400 people from as far away as Alabama and Tennessee gathered together for Progressive Mariposa/Yosemite Area Indivisible’s “No Kings Day” rally on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mariposa Arts Park to stand in firm defense of democracy, due process of law, and the constitutional rights of all Americans and to celebrate Flag Day.

The rally was one of over 2,100 globally, held in response to the growing concerns over the erosion of civil liberties, the alarming use of military force against American citizens on U.S. soil, and President Donald Trump’s continued authoritarian rhetoric and disregard for constitutional checks and balances. Progressive Mariposa/Yosemite Area Indivisible gathered to remind the nation that in the United States, there are no kings, only public servants born by law and accountable to the people. We believe these developments threaten the foundations of the republic and principles of fairness, justice, and accountability that sustain our American democracy.

Progressive Mariposa/Yosemite Area Indivisible would like to thank everyone who attended. We’d like to especially thank the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office for sending officers to observe the event and for their commitment to keeping it peaceful and safe for all participants. We also extend gratitude to the Mariposa County Democratic Club and all other organizations, groups, and individuals for their support of, and participation in, this important civic action.

Progressive Mariposa/Yosemite Area Indivisible is an Indivisible group covering Mariposa, eastern Madera County, the Yosemite area, and beyond. It is based in Mariposa County, California.

The group is meant to be open and inclusive to all individuals and groups regardless of geographic location or even of political party or ideation and who are interested in joining forces to pursue and defend Democracy.

Members seek to use verifiable information to hold power holders at all levels accountable and to educate and coordinate members and others with timely, non-violent, and appropriate calls-to-action on various issues and policies.

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.
