Solid Teamwork in Nevada County During a Challenging Remote Rescue!

June 23, 2025 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 5th, a man attempting to hike out after getting his Prius stuck on Meadow Lake Road became extremely fatigued after several hours in remote terrain. While the Nevada County Sheriff's Office was prepared to rescue the man using their Jeep via the Fordyce Trail, which the man had finally made his way to on foot, it was estimated it would take 4.5 hours to reach him. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office subsequently requested assistance from Placer County Sheriff’s Office Falcon 30 crew.

After completing a weather check, Falcon 30 launched and located the man using GPS coordinates he had provided. The crew was able to land nearby, make contact, and safely get him on board. He was flown to a nearby staging area where Nevada County deputies were waiting and helped him get back into town.

This was a complex operation in remote terrain. Thank you to everyone involved for the outstanding teamwork!
