Retired TCSO Lieutenant Passes Away 

June 27, 2025 – Tulare County Sheriff Boudreaux regrets to announce the passing of Retired TCSO Lieutenant Bob Edward Byrd. Lieutenant Byrd passed away at his Washington home on Monday. He was 91 years old.

Lieutenant Byrd began his career with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office in 1967 and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in 1985. Lieutenant Byrd also served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and survived by his sons- Michael, Jerry Lee and Billy Joe, as well as two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
