New Fireworks Ordinance in Effect
July 2, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff's Office officials report that Sheriff Tyson Pogue and CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced Chief Chris Trinidad remind residents that only safe and sane fireworks are legal in Madera County.
Only Safe and Sane fireworks are legal in the Valley. And ALL fireworks — including Safe and Sane — are banned in our foothill regions.
Under the County's new ordinance, fines for illegal fireworks are steep:
1st offense – $1,000
2nd offense – $5,000
3rd offense or more – $10,000
Each firework counts individually—5 fireworks could cost you $36,000.
If someone is injured or killed due to illegal use, you could face felony charges.
Property owners can also be cited, even if they didn’t set off the fireworks.
Let's celebrate responsibly and keep Madera County safe this Independence Day.
