The Madre Fire, which started and exploded on federal lands, is now mapped at more than 70,000 acres and containment is up to 10%. The state remains in lockstep with our federal partners, and CAL FIRE has significantly increased air & ground resources in the last 24 hours to support joint efforts. Note: this fire remains in a very isolated location — away from homes.
While Trump has been celebrating his “big, beautiful betrayal” of a budget, his understaffed federal fire crews have been desperately fighting a dangerously growing wildfire that began on federal land he hasn’t raked — let alone acknowledged. And that bill his party celebrates makes deep cuts to the very support these federal firefighters and rural communities need.
