Music on the Green Brings Homegrown Sound and Alt-Rock Energy to the Art Park July 11 & 12
July 7, 2025 – The Mariposa County Arts Council’s Music on the Green concert series rolls into mid-July with another exciting weekend of live music under the stars in historic downtown Mariposa.
Last weekend’s July 4 holiday celebration featured powerhouse performances by The Soul Galaxy and Skull Country—two audience favorites that delivered groove and grit in equal measure. Now, we shift gears again and showcase some of the best original talent from our own foothill community.

Crooked Drone to perform on Friday, July 11
On Friday, July 11, Music on the Green will feature the unique Americana sound of Crooked Drone.
Based in Bootjack, California, Crooked Drone is led by prolific singer-songwriter and prominent neo-traditional banjo player, T-ranch (Andy Roberts). Lifelong bass player, singer-songwriter and charismatic character, Brother JD brings his virtuosic bass playing and songs to the table, with percussionist and singer-songwriter Jon Kidd lending beats, harmony, and lead vocals to the mix. Crooked Drone creates a fusion of old-time, country, folk, bluegrass, blues, and rock and roll.
James Lee Cult Revival to perform on Saturday, July 12
The James Lee Cult Revival is scheduled to bring their Alt-rock music to the Art Park on Saturday, July 12.
JLCR is one of Mariposa's own newer bands on the scene. Led by electric guitar phenomenon Harley Minford, the band consists of veteran players Jon Kidd on drums, Joe Rymer on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Jeremy Clark on bass, Jared Jesperson on keys.
Bring something to sit on, something to block the sun, something to sip on and someone to sing along because this will be a weekend of live music you won’t want to miss.
All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located at 5013 Hwy 140 in historic downtown Mariposa. Parking is available along 4th and 5th Streets, with accessible pedestrian access via the lower 5th Street parking lot through the Mariposa Creek Parkway entry.
Tips for the performers are appreciated and encouraged.
