July 7, 2025 - Madera County Sheriff's Office officials report after evading arrest in two separate incidents—first during a burglary in progress in March, then a high-speed pursuit in June - Jose Efrain Guardado, 32, was taken into custody on Thursday, July 3rd in Atwater.

MADSET deputies, along with MADNET detectives and Atwater Police, located Mr. Guardado at a Walmart Supercenter.   There he attempted to flee again but was safely apprehended after a brief struggle.

Mr. Guardado now faces multiple felony charges including burglary, weapons violations, and felony evading.  His bail is set at $85,000.

“Our job is simple but serious: protect the innocent, uphold the law, and stand ready when our community needs us most,” said Sheriff Tyson Pogue.
