Persian Cat Rescue Update

July 10, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff’s Animal Services is currently focused on providing the 106 rescued cats the medical care, grooming, and support they need to recover from the severe neglect they endured. Our priority is ensuring each animal receives the attention they deserve before considering adoption.

Once we’ve assessed their health and determined that some are ready for placement, we will begin posting adoption opportunities on our social media platforms.

In response to the overwhelming number of inquiries about how to help, we’ve created a GoFundMe and an Amazon Wishlist as a way for the community to support these cats and other animals in similar situations. Donations will support medical treatment, recovery essentials, and adoption preparation, ensuring these cats and others like them receive the dedicated care and resources they need while at our shelter.
