July 10, 2025 – Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 9:47 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for speeding in the area of Well House Drive in Jamestown. The rider, later identified as 41-year-old Michael Douglass, failed to yield and fled from the deputy. The deputy initiated a pursuit, during which Douglass committed multiple vehicle code violations, including speeding, unsafe turning, and driving on both sides of the roadway.

In the area of Rail Vista Lane, Douglass lost control of the motorcycle and laid it down. He quickly stood up as if to flee on foot, but the deputy exited his patrol vehicle and ordered him to stop. Douglass complied and was taken into custody shortly after additional deputies arrived on scene to assist with the high-risk incident.

A records check revealed Douglass had two outstanding felony warrants. During a search of his person and property, deputies located methamphetamine and a glass water pipe with burn marks and white residue, consistent with a “methamphetamine bong.” During further investigation, deputies contacted the registered owner of the motorcycle, who told them it had been stolen.
