Off-Road Adventure: Sponsored by Bad Decisions

July 11, 2025 – Oakhurst CHP officials report that on Thursday morning, a 26-year-old man from Coarsegold took his car on a “choose your own adventure” route down Road 628 at Peterson Creek Road. Spoiler alert: he chose poorly.

At approximately 5:00 A.M., CHP Oakhurst responded to Road 628 at Peterson Creek Road for a solo DUI crash. The driver took his vehicle off-road, slammed into a tree, and flipped it several times like he was auditioning for a stunt show.

He was taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries — lucky him. Alcohol and marijuana are being investigated as factors in the crash. Thankfully no one else was involved or hurt… but it easily could have been worse.

Here’s the deal: Driving under the influence of anything — liquid courage or leafy greens — turns your car into a 3,000-pound weapon. You might survive — but trees, ditches, and reality checks don’t pull punches.

Be smarter than your buzz. Drive sober or not at all.
