Traffic Incident – Bicycle vs Vehicle Crash

July 12, 2025 – Oakhurst CHP officials report that on Friday, a 30-year-old male from Oakhurst was riding his bicycle northbound on Junction Drive, in front of the Oakhurst Government Center at approx. 1:28 P.M., when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.

Preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist maneuvered between vehicles that were stopped at a red light. As he entered the southbound lane, he was broadsided by a 35-year-old male driver from Raymond, who was traveling on the right side of the road. The driver had no opportunity to avoid the crash.

The bicyclist sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported by SkyLife air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Fortunately, the bicyclist was wearing a helmet, which likely prevented more serious injuries.

This is a critical reminder: Protective gear saves lives. Whether you’re on a bicycle, motorcycle, or scooter, always wear a helmet and remain alert in traffic.

Drive and ride safely, Oakhurst.
