July 16, 2025 – Sonora Police Department officials report that 34-year-old Britani M. Alexander of Sonora was arrested on Sonora PD arrestMonday for felony impersonation, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and a felony warrant out of Stanislaus County. She was also later arrested at the Tuolumne County jail for bringing drugs into the jail.

Just after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, our officers responded to the 100 block of 100 Old Wards Ferry Road for possible suspicious drug activity inside a 2016 Toyota Prius parked in the parking lot.

The vehicle had left the parking lot before the officers' arrival; however, officers were able to locate and stop the Prius on Mono Way, traveling eastbound. The passenger of the vehicle was detained for suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and provided someone else's name and date of birth to the officer. The drug paraphernalia, consisting of foil and a straw, was confiscated. A further search of the vehicle produced suspected fentanyl and more paraphernalia.

Following the arrest, the officer located a driver's license issued to Britani Alexander, which matched the physical description of the passenger. A records inquiry revealed that Alexander had a confirmed felony warrant for narcotics charges issued by the Oakdale Police Department. Alexander was also determined to have two prior convictions for possession of "hard drugs," which enhances the new drug charge to a felony under Prop 36. Alexander was transported and booked at the Tuolumne County Detention Facility.

Deputies from the Detention Facility later notified our office that additional contraband was located on Alexander during a strip search. Officers responded to the jail, continued the investigation, took possession of several suspected Buprenorphine and Naloxone packets, and arrested Alexander on the additional charge of knowingly bringing a controlled substance into jail.

It's important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they've been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. This principle is the bedrock of our legal system and should be respected by all.
