July 17, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Monday, July 14, 2025, members of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office assisted Fresno Police Department Homicide detectives by making an arrest related to the June 20, 2025, murder of 27-year-old Julian Garcia. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies were following up on leads generated by Fresno Police Department homicide detectives on the potential whereabouts of 41-year-old Raymond Ornelas Torres, who was wanted for the murder of victim Garcia. Garcia was shot and killed by Torres during an argument near Plumas Street and Lorena Avenue in Fresno.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to a location in the 82000 block of El Paseo Avenue in the city of Indio, CA, located Torres, and took him into custody. After being interviewed by Fresno PD homicide detectives, Torres was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, CA. Torres is currently awaiting transportation back to Fresno County. Once back in Fresno County, Torres will be booked into the Fresno County Jail for murder.
