Arrest Made in Bass Lake Homicide

July 18, 2025 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office officials report a sad ending to the disappearance of a beloved member of our Bass Lake community, Robert 'Bob' Boyajian. On Thursday, Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue delivered an extensive update on this case. Our hearts and prayers go out to Bob's friends and family. Also, a big thank you to our Sheriff's department for their quick and tireless investigative work to deliver justice.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 21-year-old Audrik Matevosian of Clovis in connection with the tragic murder of 75-year-old Robert “Bob” Boyajian, a respected Bass Lake resident and real estate professional.

Detectives worked to identify and apprehend the suspect after receiving a welfare check request for Mr. Boyajian on July 14th.

The investigation revealed disturbing evidence of premeditation, including the online purchase of a body bag and renting a car.

Matevosian was taken into custody on Wednesday and ultimately confessed. He then led deputies to the victim’s burial site in San Bernardino County.

He is currently being held without bail on charges including first-degree murder with special circumstances and grand theft.

“Our detectives worked tirelessly to bring justice for Mr. Boyajian and his loved ones,” said Sheriff Tyson Pogue. “This arrest represents our commitment to protecting this community—no matter how far the investigation must go.”
