July 29, 2025 – Madera CHP officials report that 19-year-old man from Fresno leads CHP Madera in high-speed chase, after street takeover.

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, just before 8:00 p.m., multiple callers reported a street takeover on SR-145, at Avenue 7. Approximately 30 vehicles were reported to be blocking the intersection, along with numerous spectators.

A black Jeep Grand Cherokee was observed driving recklessly and a traffic stop was attempted. The driver had other plans and fled at high speeds, initiating a pursuit. The driver subsequently surrendered on Road 35, south of Avenue 9 and was taken into custody. An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old juvenile were passengers in the Jeep. The driver was booked at the Madera County Jail for felony evading.

Motorists caught in the middle of this type of activity are encouraged to call 9-1-1 and provide license plate numbers and descriptions of the vehicles and subjects involved. When instances like this occur, the CHP appreciates the tips from the public. Many times, cases are solved based on information provided by witnesses.
