June 4, 2016 - CLOVIS, Calif. – Due to the tree mortality the Sierra National Forest (SNF) is experiencing, there are various campgrounds that have been closed until tree removal projects can be completed by the Forest Service sierra national forest stelprdb5306514and their partners. Campers that had reservations in campgrounds that are now closed have been contacted and will be refunded. If you have not been contacted or had your reservation fee refunded in relation to a closed campground, please call recreation.gov at 1 (877) 477-6777.

For more information on closures in the Sierra National Forest, please contact your local ranger district. In the Bass Lake area, which is incurring the highest degree of tree mortality, there are various sites that will remain open to accommodate the large number of expected visitors due to higher water levels. Areas that are open include; Forks campground, Pine Point, Rocky Point, Willow Cove, and Falls Beach Picnic Area.

While 14 campgrounds on the SNF are closed at present due to tree mortality concerns, the vast majority of the campgrounds are open and taking reservations. Information about individual campgrounds can be found on the SNF website at; http://www.fs.usda.gov/sierra/.
