Public Health & Safety Alert

August 7, 2025 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a multi-agency coordinated cleanup effort took place on Wednesday involving 2 illegal trash dump sites, 8 personnel, 4 hours, 1 piece of heavy equipment, and 12,200 pounds of trash.

U.S. Forest Service recreation, fire, and law enforcement, Kern County Sheriff's Office, and County of Kern, California, joined forces to eradicate garbage from public lands on Wednesday. The trash haul included a range of hazardous materials, hypodermic needles, vehicle parts, construction materials, household chemicals, human waste, biohazards, and dead animal carcasses, all of which pose serious health risks.

If you come across an illegal dump site, please report it to authorities immediately. Public safety is paramount; please do not attempt to remove items from waste piles.

This is an ongoing investigation with law enforcement.
