One of our Board members is just about to complete her four-year term and she has decided to retire from her official role with NPC. Since our by-laws require that we have a five-member Board, we are in need of filling the vacant position. Please consider this assignment! The only work involved is attending a meeting in Coulterville once a month, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., on the first Monday of each month. Our members enjoy working together, and we share the feeling of doing something important for the communities we serve. Our spay/neuter program has reached hundreds of families and assisted in the prevention of many unwanted puppies and kittens. You can see that this is important humanitarian work. So, please consider giving me a call at (209) 385-3503 to learn more how you might fit into our organization!
Throughout all 5 of the communities in our service area, we notice many dogs running loose in our streets. These dogs should be in your house, a fenced yard, or on a leash. This is the law! Dogs not properly leashed pose a threat to children, other animals, and to themselves. They are easily run over by a car or truck, leading to heartache for many. An unleashed dog can lead to being cited by Animal Control or the sheriff. This is a good law and should be obeyed!
In the good news department, we have noticed recently a decreased demand for vouchers to get dogs and cats spayed or neutered. We have as many as 35 vouchers available each month and, as you are probably aware, a voucher provides for free or very low cost
spay/neuter services. Many vouchers are now going unused. The good news is that we may be making progress, with more and more cats and dogs no longer able to produce litters of unwanted animals. Congratulations!
