August 25, 2025 - Sierra National Forest (SNF) resources are responding to a number of new fires on the High Sierra Ranger District.* The fires are believed to be the result of lightning strikes, following a thunderstorm over the Central Valley. The actual cause of the fires remains under investigation. There is no threat to property or structures currently. Fire Crews continue to patrol and respond to the fires.
Officials are recommending areas east of Pine Flat Reservoir, to include Kirch Flat Campground, close temporarily due to the threat of thunderstorms and ongoing fire activity off Trimmer Springs Road (Forest Service Road 12S01).
While reports of new smokes continue to come in, below are the confirmed fires since Saturday, August 23.
- • The Tea Fire was reported yesterday, northwest of Granite Gorge
- • The Saw Fire, also reported yesterday, is north of the Teakettle Experiment Area between Patterson Mountain and Sawmill Flat
- • The Sugar Fire is just northeast of Sugarpine Hill
- • The Rodgers Fire is up the northwest of Spanish Mountain
- • The Garlic Fire northwest of Deer Ridge, west of Spanish Mountain - staffed with smokejumpers
- • The Tombstone Fire was reported last night south of Tombstone Ridge, just east of Tombstone Creek
- • The Garnet Fire is in north of the Kings River Trailhead
- • The Village Fire was reported northeast of the Wishon Reservoir - staffed with smokejumpers
- • Buck Fire near Buck Meadow
Air and ground fire resources are continuing to respond to additional smoke reports as they come in.
